Experience & Expertise

As an attorney and a mental health counselor, I understand the unique legal considerations of the health care profession. I have had many years of experience providing legal counsel, consultation, and guidance to a wide range of health care professionals including psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, eastern medicine practitioners, and first responders. In addition, I am licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in Washington State and am currently providing counseling and psychotherapy services to combat veterans in Everett Washington.

As an attorney in the US Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, I spent more than 10 years conducting legal training and providing legal services to mental health and medical professionals employed by the Federal Government in California and Washington State. I have also served as legal counsel on Navy Domestic Violence Case Review Committees for many years.

In addition to my service with the US Navy Family Advocacy Program, I have served as a criminal defense attorney, as a federal prosecutor, and as in-house counsel. I have had the opportunity to represent both the government and individuals in hundreds of administrative hearings. I also worked as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician at Huron Valley Ambulance in Chelsea, Michigan. I continue to provide legal counsel to US Naval medical facilities throughout the Western United States and the Pacific as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy JAG Corps Reserve.

I graduated cum laude from Wayne State University School of Law in Detroit Michigan, I attended the Hague Academy of International Law in the Hague, Netherlands, and I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from the University of Michigan. I have Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from the Northwest School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Seattle. Most recently, I have earned a PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from Oregon State University.

I am a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Seattle Counselors Association, the American Counseling Association, and the Washington Counseling Association.
